Frequently asked questions

We have been at this for a long time, so we understand that you might have some questions.

FAQs

What is your average crossover period with Australasia, US and Europe (sweet spot)?

We encourage our staff to maximise the sweet spot as much as possible. The team comes in early to ensure there is at least 3-5 hours cross over per day. This will always depend on the client requirements and location.

What is ISO 27001:2013?

ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is an international standard on how to manage information security. It details requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system (ISMS) – the aim of which is to help organisations make the information assets they hold more secure. It helps Hero Teams ensure that our clients’ and our own data is always secure.

What are some of the measures Hero Teams uses to ensure our data is safe?

At Hero Teams we have a detailed Information Security Policy that details our physical building controls as well as the use of leading antivirus, anti malware software, network monitoring and the use of password management software. We also have our Information Security Committee work closely with the client to ensure all client controls are met.

Do you conduct police checks on your staff?

All staff undergo a police check as well as reference checks during our comprehensive interview and onboarding process.

Will we have onshore assistance if we decide to offshore through Hero Teams?

Senior Management is located in Australia, Ukraine and the Philippines and is readily available to assist and manage the transition to your new offshore team.

How do we know if we’re in a position to offshore?

Budgetary constraints aside, anyone is in a position to utilise an offshore team so long as there is a need , i.e, if you need extra experienced and qualified resources quickly and at a cheaper rate than local rates.

Can I have a team for a short period of time?

No, we don’t have idle people on the bench. We build teams for ongoing requirements. Our price, philosophy and values represent this.

Does the team work in the same location?

In most cases team members work in one of our offices. In some cases team members can work remotely from home or a co-working space. The tools we use enable collaboration in the office or from home.

Do you have people ready to go that I can pick from?

We are always recruiting. Depending on the particular role and technologies we are looking for there could be a surplus. We’re not fans of having people sitting idle because:
- It would increase the cost to our clients
- We don’t believe people on the bench are match fit
- We’re not an agency

If I get a team is it my team or Hero’s team?

At Hero we provide the ancillary services so you can focus on building great software. Your Hero Team members are absolutely part of your team and culture and should be treated as such. Hero management is not hands off though, we are actively involved in making sure that Hero Teams and its members are adding value to your business.

Can I meet the team?

Absolutely, we encourage this. Ukraine is a wonderful place and one of Europe's best kept secrets. The Philippines likewise is a great place to visit but somewhat hotter. In today’s world, video conferencing comes second nature to most. Our current clients run daily stand-ups via Zoom, Slack, Google or similar.

What if I am unhappy with someone in my team?

We have a formal process that we follow to either improve performance or replace the team member. Management at Hero are obsessed with performance and metrics, it’s our goal to determine any underlying issues and resolve them before it becomes a client issue.

How long does it take to set up a team?

Usually it takes 4-8 weeks but can vary depending on the requirements (team size, technologies, experience etc). Our conditions, offices, benefits, culture, clients and passion makes us a desirable place to work, this is a real focus for us. It’s rare that highly talented candidates are out of work, so the time to set up a new client’s team accounts for this lead time (notice).

Can I get a single team member?

No. We’re not “sizeist” we just know from experience it seldom works. A team of 1 is isolated and provides no redundancy.

How is my work delivered, does Hero have a process?

If you have an existing process we can easily integrate . If you don’t have a process we have a well documented successful delivery methodology that delivers high output with inclusive geographically separated teams. We’re always reviewing our processes, each client is different and we improve and evolve together..

How is system and SaaS software use billed?

Hero Teams employees are provided with the key communication tools such as Google Workspace suite, Slack etc... Client specific tools and software are managed and paid for by the client. This is as much about security as it is about cost.

What systems and software do we use?

At Hero we use Slack, Gmail, Trend Micro, JumpCloud, ELMO Software (HR & Learning) and LastPass as our primary base tools.

Will the developer have a business email?

Yes, all the guys have a Hero Teams email.
